About this Event
The Direction Project Presents: The Roads Ahead
A modern career night for students in Grades 9–12 and an adult who supports them. Light refreshments will be provided.
There is no single road to a great career—and most people’s path isn’t nearly as straight as it looks from the outside.
At The Roads Ahead, students and their parents/caregivers/adult will meet real professionals from a variety of industries and hear the stories behind their careers:
- their job title, company name
- typical work day details (roles & responsibilities)
- salary range, benefits, etc.
- how they got there (education & experience)
- the best part of their job
- what they would do differently
- what they wish someone had told them in high school
Each participating adult will give a brief, informal introduction to their career. Afterward, the room opens up for students and families to network, ask questions, compare pathways, and explore careers they may never have considered before.
No booths. No sales pitches. No perfectly polished career stories. Just real people talking honestly about where they started, where they ended up, and what they learned along the way in a low pressure environment.
The Direction Project team will also be on hand to answer any of your questions regarding career exploration, high school course planning, post-secondary pathways and applications, admission requirements, scholarships, resumes, networking, gaining relevant experience, and preparing for meaningful employment after graduation.
* please note: networking attire (business casual) is encouraged
