Inside the towering, hollow shell of a decommissioned grain silo, The Responsive Silo: Experimental Visual and Acoustic Spaces, conjures an invisible world made visible and audible. This site-specific immersive collaboration reimagines the empty cylinder as a sensitive, living vessel for the unseen currents that shape our planet. As visitors step inside the concrete chamber, they enter a vista of ever changing light, shadow and sound - data points and fleeting sounds are merged and transformed into fluid, unpredictable projections and sonic textures that climb the curved walls, mirroring the rise and fall of a collective digital pulse.
The silo, once built to store the heavy weight of static grain, now breathes with the weightlessness of moving imagery and sound of nature. The Responsive Silo: Experimental Visual and Acoustic Spaces invites us to step into the dark, and participate in a mysterious symphony of experimental sound and visual projections.
This project has been supported by Squeaky Wheel Film & Media Art Center’s Equipment Access Award and is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
