About this Event
We often think of strength as pushing harder, forcing through and never giving up. But what if strength is also something else?
In Finland, sisu describes the inner strength we tap into when perseverance and grit run out. As researcher Dr. Elisabet Lahti describes it, Finnish sisu isn't about stubbornness or force. It's a gentle power that lives within each of us.
Held on Finland's 109th Independence Day, this workshop invites you to explore your own sisu through movement, breath and reflection.
What to expect:
- Breathing practices (pranayama)
- A gentle Hatha yoga flow
- A few kriyas from the Himalayan Kriya Kundalini tradition, practising strength with ease rather than force
- Deep relaxation
- Guided reflection on where you need sisu right now and how to meet it with gentleness instead of force
- A closing ritual with Finnish glögi (non-alcoholic mulled wine) and Finnish chocolate
Who it's for
Everyone who has had a demanding year and wants to end it with more steadiness, warmth and a touch of Finnish magic. You don't need to be Finnish to join the celebration! All levels welcome, no yoga experience needed. If you have any injuries or health conditions, just let me know when you arrive.
About me
I'm Maria, a Finn living in Rosenheim and Erlangen. I'm a certified business coach and a 200-hour certified yoga teacher, trained in Hatha yoga in Portugal. I recently completed an additional 100-hour training in Kriya Kundalini, Tantra and Bhakti yoga in Colombia. I love helping people discover the strength they already have, and I can't think of a better way to celebrate my home country's birthday.
