What if your child’s behavior is an invitation to understand them more deeply?
Join NewGate School for The Prepared Parent, a free six-week parent-child experience designed to help parents of toddlers develop a deeper understanding of child development and become more intentional, responsive partners in their child’s growth.
Rather than focusing on behavior management or quick parenting techniques, The Prepared Parent invites adults to slow down, observe, and begin seeing everyday experiences through a developmental lens.
Across six Saturday sessions, families will explore Montessori principles including observation, child development, the prepared adult, respectful guidance, independence, meaningful participation, and the prepared environment.
The Six-Week Journey
Week 1: Seeing the Child
From reaction to observation.
Week 2: Understanding Development
From “How do I fix this?” to “What is my child developing?”
Week 3: Preparing the Adult
From reacting automatically to becoming a more intentional presence.
Week 4: Guiding With Connection and Intention
From control to respectful guidance.
Week 5: Preparing the Environment
From doing for children to creating opportunities for participation and independence.
Week 6: Integrating the Practice
Bringing observation, reflection, and Montessori principles into everyday family life.
This is not a traditional parenting lecture. Parents and children will learn together through observation, participation, discussion, reflection, and hands-on experiences in a prepared Montessori environment.

The program content is designed for parents of toddlers. Children are welcome to attend with their family, including older siblings, so childcare is not necessary.
