Our vote is our voice. Let's use it. On October 26, Ottawa elects a mayor, city councillors, and school board trustees. These are the people who decide what gets built, what gets funded, and who gets heard — housing, transit, policing, small business supports, our children's schools. The decisions closest to our daily lives are made at this level of government, and they're decided by the people who show up.
Too often, our community is talked about during election season and forgotten after it. This town hall is about changing that.
Join the Afro Caribbean Business Network and The NewLife Project Inc. for an honest, community-led conversation about the upcoming municipal election — who's running, what they're promising, and what it means for us.
What we'll cover: Who's on your ballot — the candidates and where they stand How to read a platform and ask the right questions of anyone asking for your vote The issues on the table for our community: affordable housing, community safety, small business and economic opportunity, schools How and when to vote — advance polls, voting day, and how to confirm you're registered Open floor: your questions, your concerns, your voice What to expect: A warm room, a real conversation, and lunch on us. No political party affiliation, no endorsements, no pressure — just clear information and space for community to think out loud together.
Who should come: Anyone in Ottawa who wants to walk into the voting booth informed instead of guessing. First-time voters, longtime voters, newcomers, business owners, parents, students, elders — you belong at this table.

Advance voting runs October 1–4 and October 16. Check that you're on the Voters' List at ottawa.ca/elections — the deadline to update your information is Sunday, September 20 at 4:30 PM, the day after this town hall. Come to the table, then handle it that same weekend.
