We all want to be great stewards of society, business, our lives, and the world. But where is the “easy button”? Sustainability efforts often feel overwhelming—high costs, conflicting priorities, or unclear ROI. In a world of many shades of green, this session brings clarity, helping participants grasp complexities without feeling overloaded. It also helps design professionals navigate today’s political climate around sustainability and its impact on client expectations and workplace priorities. Attendees gain insight into frameworks, best practices, tools, and resources to apply common-sense sustainability in spaces where people live, work, and thrive. Blending storytelling and actionable insights, this session equips participants with tangible strategies to drive sustainable transformation in their domains.

Holley Henderson, LEED Fellow, Fitwel Ambassador, and WELL AP, is a sought-after author, speaker, and consultant who founded H2 Ecodesign to bring common sense to sustainable design. Widely recognized as the “Common Sense Environmentalist,” she makes eco-friendly choices practical for businesses. As author of Becoming a Green Building Professional (Wiley), she frequently presents on sustainable design and health topics to audiences such as ASID GATHER, Greenbuild, IFMA World Workplace, NeoCon, the Greenguard Summit, CBRE World Conference, and countless industry and academic groups.

She has led several sustainability firsts, including the world’s first LEED-CI Platinum project and pioneering LEED projects in China and Thailand. Her consulting spans over four million square feet of certified space and partnerships with product manufacturers to advance green innovation and education. As a charter member of the original USGBC LEED Faculty, she has chaired or served on multiple national committees, helping shape the direction of green building standards and education.

Currently, Holley leads partnerships for UL Research Institutes’ Chemical Insights, focusing on the intersection of indoor environments and human health. Organizations such as WELL (Materials), Wells Fargo, SCAD, and Contract Magazine have also engaged her expertise. With an emphasis on health, materials, and wellness, she continues to champion sustainable and healthy spaces worldwide.
