The Art and Power of Flags: Every country in the world has a flag designed to represent their country – some choose simple colours while others incorporate objects or animals into the design. Some flags haven’t changed for hundreds of years whilst others have continuously evolved because of turbulent history or politics.
Some of the simplest flags have the most fascinating stories behind them with origins traced to other countries or cultures or even attributed to god!
These and other themes will be explored in the talk. We will also explore the power of symbolism, the power of colour and shapes and why flags can create such huge emotional responses – dividing and bring people together….
