This November, KAREVAN returns with a new musical journey through Persian traditional music at Boiler Room.
Following our previous performances, we will keep one of our established musical sections while introducing a new set exploring Mahur, one of the central and expressive modes of Persian classical music.
The program brings together the traditional sounds of Setar, Violin, and Percussion, performed by Iranian and Japanese musicians.
Through traditional Persian compositions, ensemble performance, and musical dialogue, KAREVAN explores the rich heritage of Persian classical music while creating a space for musical and cultural exchange between Iran and Japan.
Whether you have joined us before or are discovering KAREVAN for the first time, we invite you to share this new musical journey with us.

ARTISTS
Arash Rahmati – Setar
Born in Tehran, Iran. Arash began studying the Persian traditional instrument Setar at the age of 16 and studied Persian classical music theory, rhythm, solfège, and related musical disciplines. Since 2019, he has been based in Japan, introducing Persian music through performances, lessons, and workshops. He has been active both in Japan and internationally through cultural festivals, international exchange events, educational programs, and collaborative performances.
Tanehiko Sekijima – Violin
A Tokyo-based musician whose work explores the theme of “What is folklore music, and what are our songs?” He is the founder of Ensemble Poezia, a musical unit that brings together folk music, jazz, classical music, and other traditions while exploring new possibilities in music. He is also involved in theatre and film music and works across a wide range of genres in both performance and music production.
Junzo Tateiwa – Tombak & Daf
A percussionist specializing in traditional percussion instruments from the Middle East and India. He performs both in Japan and internationally across a wide range of genres, from traditional classical and folklore music to pop, jazz, classical music, opera, and dance. He specializes in a diverse range of percussion instruments and is also involved in music production through composition and arrangement. His activities extend to music for stage productions and visual media, as well as many other musical projects.

11月、KAREVANがBoiler Roomにて新たな音楽の旅をお届けします。
これまでのKAREVAN公演で演奏してきた音楽の一つを残しながら、今回は新たに「マーフール」のセットを加え、ペルシャ古典音楽の新しい一面をお届けします。
セタール、ヴァイオリン、パーカッションによるアンサンブルを通して、イランと日本の音楽家が共演。
ペルシャ古典音楽の伝統的な楽曲とアンサンブル、そして音楽家同士の対話を通して、イランの豊かな音楽文化をお楽しみいただきながら、日本とイランの音楽・文化の交流を感じていただけるひとときをお届けします。
これまでKAREVANを聴いてくださった方にも、今回初めてKAREVANを聴く方にも、新しい音楽の旅を楽しんでいただければと思います。

アラシ・ラハマティ（セタール）
イラン・テヘラン出身。16歳よりペルシャ伝統楽器
セタールを学び、ペルシャ古典音楽の理論、リズ
ム、ソルフェージュなどを修得。2019年より日本
を拠点に、演奏、レッスン、ワークショップを通し
てペルシャ音楽を紹介している。文化フェスティバ
ル、国際交流イベント、教育プログラム、コラボレ
ーション公演など、国内外で幅広く活動している。
関島種彦 （ヴァイオリン）
「フォークロア音楽、私たちの歌とは何か？」をテ
ーマに東京を中心に活動するミュージシャン。民族
音楽、ジャズ、クラシックなどを融合した音楽ユニ
ット『Ensemble Poezia』を主宰し、音楽の新しい
可能性を探求している。演劇や映画音楽にも携わり
幅広いジャンルで演奏や制作活動を行っている。
立岩潤三（トンバク、ダフ）
中近東・インドの伝統打楽器を中心に、民俗古典音
楽／フォークロアから、ポップス、ジャズ、クラシ
ック、オペラ、舞踊まで幅広いジャンルで国内外の
演奏活動を行う。多様な打楽器を専門とし、作曲・
編曲で音楽制作にも携わる。舞台作品や映像関連の
音楽制作など、多方面で活動している。
