The ULM School of Visual and Performing Arts presents Gilbert and Sullivan's classic comic operetta, "The Pirates of Penzance!"About this Event
Dashing Pirates...
Sassy Maidens...
Bumbling Police...
And a Modern Major General!
"The Pirates of Penzance" is an operetta by Sir Arthur Sullivan (music) and W.S. Gilbert (lyrics and libretto) that was originally premiered in 1879. For more than a century, audiences have delighted in the clever lyrics and sharp satire of this tale of a simple lad who's devotion to his own "sense of duty" sets in motion a plot of pure silliness. Among the most famous of the Gilbert and Sullivan operettas, "The Pirates of Penzance" blends sung and spoken dialogue- making it closer to a Broadway-style show than a traditional grand opera.
