Davis’s score draws heavily on Gounod’s Faust — the opera at the center of the film’s Paris Opera House setting — while creating a haunting musical identity for the Phantom himself. As Davis described it: “horror, pure horror.” Performed live alongside the film, the score heightens its romance, spectacle, suspense, and terror, transforming this silent masterpiece into an immersive concert-cinema experience.
