About this Event
We are delighted to welcome Andy Quinn back to Thorngate Halls to accompany the horror classic The Phantom of the Opera on Compton Theatre Organ.
Since the publication of Gaston Leroux's novel in 1910, The Phantom of the Opera has been adapted into many forms but this silent version from 1925 is perhaps the most celebrated. Lon Chaney stars as the disfigured genius haunting the Paris Opera House, covertly aiding a young soprano’s rise while concealing a dark obsession.
Chaney’s groundbreaking makeup, the atmospheric sets, and enduring gothic imagery, make this Universal Pictures production a landmark of early cinema. The evening will begin with an introduction by local film lecturer Rob Hind and the film will be screened with live accompaniment on the Compton Theatre Organ.
Tickets are £12 for adults and £5 for children/students with a family ticket available for £25.
