About this Event

Culture at Berimbau
THE PENCIL: with opera composer João MacDowell

Memorable Mondays with live music, conversation, and culture. Presented by Berimbau 2nd Floor and the International Brazilian Opera Company (IBOC), Culture at Berimbau is a three-part salon series exploring the piano, the voice, and the classical guitar. Each evening brings audiences close to the artists through an engaging combination of performance, storytelling and conversation in Berimbau’s intimate cultural space.

Experience select operatic works and career highlights with IBOC’s co-founder and pianist Mireia Frutos Fernández. The inspirational concert-conversation with the composer weaves between the life and work of becoming a composer, from the first sketch to the realization of building an opera company that bridges NYC with an international presence.
