The Parallax View (1974) is driven by chilling atmosphere, unforgettable cinematography, and a terrifyingly timeless look at institutional corruption, The Parallax View uses dramatic shadows, harsh light, and massive, alienating corporate architecture to make you feel tiny and trapped while it engulfs you into the paranoia of the era. The film features a mid-movie psychological indoctrination montage—a rapid-fire sequence of words and disturbing images—that is widely remembered as one of the most experimental and unsettling scenes in 1970s cinema.
