Celebrating the release of their next single, TV Rain, THE OWLS will be joined by macrocarpa for a special Sunday afternoon show at The Gem Bar in Collingwood, on Nov 15. TV Rain’ lays out verse after verse of vivid narrative from the make believe ‘Summit and Quarter’ hotel, where the “floor is vapour and the walls are made of water”, on top of greasy, weaving electric guitars and a rhythm section that sounds like something from the Exile On Main Street sessions.
Lyrically a poetic commentary on the unfolding enshitifcation of modern society in the “post truth” world, it’s a painting of words,
pictures of surreal places, ominous scenarios, with an underlying, uncertain imbalance between existential dread and confident nonchalance, as the chorus calls out “it’s alright, as long as the flowers remain, watered by the TV rain”.
On Sunday Nov 15, The OWLS will be joined by macrocarpa - the alternative, avant guard post rock movement spearheaded by songwriter Sam Bamberry and consisting of electric guitars, bass drums and cello. The band formed at the start of 2026 and has been playing shows to a steadily growing audience across Melbourne/naarm since.
