This 2 week course will give you the opportunity to master working with finer stretch fabrics whilst making 'Nikko', a long sleeve, mock turtleneck top. This is a brilliant pattern that will form part of the basics of your wardrobe. The pattern (which is yours to keep), also give options for a sleeveless top and a long sleeve and sleeveless dress, which you can make at home. Size 0-18You will learn:
All about stretch fabrics
Tips and tricks to work with fine or ribbed jersey
You can use the skills you have learned in class to make one of the other variations in the pattern
What's included?
A commercial printed pattern which you can take home and re-use
What you need to bring:
Up to 2.3m of medium weight knit fabric with approx 75% stretch e.g. rib knit or bamboo knit. I will be in touch a few weeks before class with more details
Ball point or stretch needle
Matching thread. We recommend using a good quality brand such as Gütermann or Coats
A sewing machine (if you don't have one you can choose to hire one from us for £10)
A sewing kit including fabric and paper scissors or rotary cutter, a quick unpick, pins, tailors chalk or fabric pen, tape measure or ruler, spare needles for your sewing machine. Kit is available to borrow if you don't have your own.
£80. This course is aimed at confident beginners who have sewn clothing before and would like to try working with stitch fabric.
Class runs on Thurs 13th and 20th October, from 6.30- 9pm at Saint Wilfrids Community Centre, Coltsgate Hill, Ripon HG4 2AB.
