Bach, Vivaldi, Corelli, Telemann and the song of a nightingale.
Matthias Maute, Josephine van Lier and Christopher Bagan come together for an intimate afternoon of Baroque chamber music, with trio sonatas, solos and duos giving each musician a chance to step into the foreground.
At the heart of the program are two very different solo works: Bach’s complete Cello Suite No. 2 in D minor and Jacob van Eyck’s Engels Nachtegaeltje (“The English Nightingale”), in which the recorder imitates the song of a nightingale.
The program also includes music by Telemann, Corelli and Vivaldi, Vitali’s Chaconne in G minor, and a solo work for harpsichord.
Part of Early Music Alberta’s November festival, in collaboration with Ensemble Caprice.
