Understand the science behind endometriosis - how your brain, nerves & inflammation shape pain, mood, and daily life.
About this Event

After sell-out crowds for our Periods, PMS, PMDD and endometriosis talks, it’s obvious: women aren’t the problem - the lack of science made accessible to them is. So we’re back, in collaboration with The Menstrual Health Project and just in time for Endometriosis Awareness Month.

Endometriosis affects 1 in 10 people who menstruate, yet in the UK it still takes an average of eight years to receive a diagnosis. Despite being so common, the condition is surrounded by gaps in knowledge - especially when it comes to how it interacts with the brain, the nervous system, and long-term pain.

Whether you live with endometriosis, support someone who does, work in women’s health, this evening will help you understand what’s happening beneath the surface - biologically, neurologically, and emotionally.

What you’ll learn

Led by Dr Emilė Radytė, a neuroscientist specializing in hormonal brain health, we’ll explore:

  • How endometriosis interacts with the nervous system - and why pain can become persistent, widespread, or unpredictable
  • The brain–pelvis connection, including cognition, inflammation, fatigue, and mood
  • Why endometriosis pain is not period pain - and the neural mechanisms that explain the difference
  • Emerging research reshaping our understanding of chronic pelvic pain
  • Evidence-based supports that may help with pain regulation, mood, energy, and daily function
  • Space for questions and lived experience

Dr Emilė Radytė is a neuroscientist and science communicator whose work focuses on how hormonal changes shape brain function, mood, and behaviour. A Harvard and Oxford graduate, her research has focused on psychiatric applications and neurocognitive markers of response to the treatment of depression using TMS. She is also the co-founder of Samphire Neuroscience, a neurotechnology company on a mission to help women across their life cycles. She is deeply passionate about women's health and creating solutions for those who have been overlooked for too long.
