About this Event
The tour is limited to 6 participants.
Learning about art through artists and their lives is one approach. However, trying to understand artworks within the historical, cultural, and economic context of the periods in which they were created takes us a step further, giving us the ability to read and interpret paintings more deeply. With this tour, we will examine works from the Medieval and Renaissance periods and develop that ability together. Afterwards, you will be able to identify and interpret paintings within their historical periods on a macro level, as if you had gained a third eye.
Some examples of topics and artists covered in the tour:
- The general belief system of the Medieval and Renaisance Era
- Feudalism
- The lives and artistic representations of some sacred figures such as Saint John the Baptist and Saint Catherine of Alexandria
- Scenes from the lives of Jesus and the Virgin Mary
- The changing mindset towards Renaissance era and its reflection in art
- Cimabue
- Duccio
- Botticelli
- Raphael
- Leonardo da Vinci
- ...
By the end of the tour, you will begin to see the aura within the paintings.
