Devanadi warmly welcomes back Judith Hanson Lasater! The shoulder is an important joint in the body as well as an important symbol of our strength and ability to succeed in the world. The position of our shoulders instantly telegraphs our mood to the world. Because of the importance of this area in the body, many yoga poses focus either on strengthening or stretching the shoulders.
Students sometimes complain of dysfunction with the “rotator cuff” muscles of the shoulder, and yoga teachers are increasingly called upon to help. But to be able to help ourselves or others, we must first understand the anatomy and movement principles of the shoulder joint, as well as the surrounding areas that function with it.
We will start each day with an anatomy study and then continue with the practice of Active Asana to integrate what we have learned. The second part of the day will incorporate Quiet Practice (Restorative yoga) to allow us to integrate the lessons of the day and to create and maintain healthy shoulder joints.
At 80 years old, Judith is winding down her teaching. Don’t miss your chance to study with one of the luminary teachers of yoga!
