Exploring the spaces between life and music.
A six-day, small-group immersion exploring the spaces between life and music - designed to enliven and tune us into body, voice, music, the spirit of play, and curiosity. Through vocal improvisation, movement, and emergent co-creative rituals, we explore what ignites aliveness and connection, both musically and in life.
This immersion is dedicated to deepening our capacity for co-creative, responsive vocal improvisation and vocal-music spontaneity, building music together from presence, listening, and shared awareness, and exploring how we approach our voice in life - in relationship to others.
What This Workshop Is About
The immersion is for shower singers, seasoned improvisers, artists, facilitators, teachers, and anyone curious to explore voice and body in a creative, supportive community.
Our primary focus is growth as vocal improvisers in the company of others - learning to respond in real time, notice musical relationships, and develop spontaneity, attention, and spaciousness.
At times, rhythm, repetition, spaciousness, and layered voice may lead to deep immersion, heightened sensations, challenging thoughts, or moments of musical trance. These experiences are welcomed as part of exploring creative flow. Participants naturally bring aspects of their lived experience, emotions, or personal narratives into the music, yet this is not a therapeutic space or place for catharsis. Instead, these aspects are held and explored within the musical and co-creative framework, supporting artistry, attentive listening, and relational awareness, while staying grounded, present, and connected to your body, the people, and the place around you.
Participants will explore:
-Embodied voice and rhythm, awakening the voice and body through sound, listening, movement, stillness, breath, musical structures, imagination and rhythm
-Movement and body-based vocal improvisation
-Co-creative, responsive, and emergent rituals, arising from listening, relationship, and play
-Reflection, stillness, and shared presence, integrating experiences through attention and relational awareness
The Musical Body Process
A core thread of the immersion is The Musical Body Process - a small-group, co-creative practice running across multiple days. Through shared vocal improvisations, musical structures, and emergent rituals, participants explore personal and collective themes, spark creativity, and respond to each other in the moment.
