The Minus Scale are New Hampshire Seacoast indie-rock veterans who emerged in the early 2000s with a melodic, guitar-driven sound that leaned heavily toward power pop. Their 2008 album Hotter featured guest appearances from Matthew Caws of Nada Surf and Derek Archambault of Defeater/Alcoa, and the band returned in 2019 with the single “Back to Your House / Old Ghost.” Members later went on to form Dover power-pop trio New Norde, whose bio describes The Minus Scale as “2000s Seacoast stalwarts.”
New Norde are a Dover, New Hampshire power-pop quartet forged in the Seacoast scene, pairing hook-first songwriting, jangly overdriven guitars, and big, upfront vocals with a healthy dose of wit and nostalgia. Formed in 2019 by former members of Seacoast stalwarts The Minus Scale, the band wears influences like Matthew Sweet, Nada Surf, Teenage Fanclub, and Guided by Voices proudly on its sleeve. Their debut EP, Whatever’s Clever, arrived via Trash Casual/Mint 400 in 2022, establishing a knack for concise, sharply melodic guitar pop. newnorde.com
Coyote Smoke are a six-piece from New Hampshire’s Seacoast blending indie Americana, blues rock, and outlaw country into a gritty, roots-driven sound. Fronted by Gabbi Toribio and Jordan Cowley, the band pairs raw, direct songwriting with dual vocals, driving guitars, keys, and shout-along harmonies, drawing inspiration from artists including Chris Stapleton, Sierra Ferrell, Nathaniel Rateliff, Shakey Graves, and Red Clay Strays. In 2026, they were selected as a finalist for the Levitate Foundation’s Songwriter of the Year, while their single “Right Hook” offers the clearest recorded introduction yet to the band’s sound.
