About this Event
An intimate evening of Australian wine, artisan cheese and conversation
The Metropole Library | Katoomba
Some of the best conversations happen over a glass of wine.
Step inside the heritage charm of The Metropole Library, where a small gathering of wine lovers comes together for an evening of discovery, storytelling and spirited conversation.
Unlike traditional wine tastings, The Metropole Tasting Room welcomes just 12 guests per session, creating a wonderfully personal experience where curiosity is encouraged, questions are welcomed and conversation flows as freely as the wine.
Hosted by wine educator Clio Collar, this relaxed 90-minute experience takes you on a journey through eight thoughtfully selected wines, exploring an intriguing mix of grape varieties, regions and winemaking styles.
More than a tasting, it's a conversation.
With no more than 12 people gathered in the cosy, informal surrounds of our heritage lounge, there's plenty of opportunity to engage directly with Clio, ask questions as they arise and explore the fascinating world of wine at your own pace.
There's no formal lecture, no intimidating wine jargon and certainly no expectation that you arrive knowing your Shiraz from your Sangiovese.
Instead, expect lively discussion, fascinating discoveries and the pleasure of sharing good wine in good company.
Whether you're a curious beginner or a seasoned enthusiast, you'll find an experience that's as welcoming as it is enlightening.
Meet Your Host
Clio Collar brings more than 15 years of experience gathered across Argentina, the United Kingdom, South Australia and Sydney. Her career has spanned winemaking, wine tourism, fine wine retail, importing and education.
Warm, knowledgeable and wonderfully down-to-earth, Clio has a gift for making wine fascinating without making it complicated.
Throughout the evening, she'll share the stories behind each bottle, exploring how climate, soil, weather and the winemaker's hand influence what ultimately arrives in your glass.
And with such a small group, you're invited to ask questions throughout the tasting, follow your curiosity and enjoy the kind of personal interaction rarely found at larger wine events.
Wine, Cheese & Heritage Charm
Each tasting is complemented by a generous selection of artisan cheese, crackers, dried fruit and olives.
Settle into the comfortable, unhurried atmosphere of The Metropole's historic library, surrounded by old-world character, a cosy fireplace, and the quiet romance of a bygone era.
It's an evening designed to be savoured, with beautiful wines, engaging stories and conversations that linger long after the final glass.
