The South Wales Metro has been one of Wales' most ambitious infrastructure projects, but the real story is not just how it was delivered, it's what comes next.
While much of the Metro's history and development journey has been documented elsewhere, Prof Mark Barry will draw on more than a decade of experience championing the vision to reflect on the leadership, persistence and coalition-building required to drive major change, before exploring the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead for Wales.
This session will move beyond the Metro's origin story to consider how improved connectivity, transit-oriented development and integrated transport networks can support productivity, investment, place-making and long-term economic growth across Wales.

Mae Metro De Cymru wedi bod yn un o brosiectau seilwaith mwyaf uchelgeisiol Cymru, ond nid y stori go iawn yw sut y cafodd ei gyflawni, ond yn hytrach yr hyn a ddaw nesaf.
Er bod llawer o hanes a datblygiad y Metro wedi'i ddogfennu mewn lleoedd eraill, bydd yr Athro Mark Barry yn defnyddio degawd o brofiad yn hyrwyddo'r weledigaeth er mwyn myfyrio ar yr arweinyddiaeth, y dyfalbarhad a'r cynghreirio sydd ei angen i yrru newidiadau o bwys yn eu blaenau, cyn trafod y cyfleoedd a'r heriau sydd o'n blaenau yng Nghymru.
