The ARF Boston “Sardarabad” gomideh, Watertown High School’s Armenian Club, and the Armenian Genealogy Conference are proud to present the film screening of Երգն Հայաստանի/The Melody of Armenia. The event will take place on Sunday, November 22nd at 2pm at the brand new Watertown High School’s auditorium, located at 50 Columbia Street in Watertown, MA.First premiered in 1930, The Melody of Armenia tells the story of Mrs. Ghazarian, a genocide survivor living in France in the 1920s. She had six children, five of whom perished during the genocide. Her surviving son lives with her, and together, they attempt to rebuild their lives in exile. Like many survivors, Mrs. Ghazarian is haunted by the horrors she lived through and is deeply despondent over the loss of her family and the fate of the Armenian people.
This film includes real footage of the burning of Smyrna, prominent Armenian luminaries such as Alexander Khatisian and Avetis Aharonian, and images of Armenian schools, scouting organizations, and community life in France.
