The Lyndonville Radar Base & the Betty & Barney Hill Abduction: New England's most interesting Cold War UFO history.
The year is 1961 and the cold war between the US and Soviet Union is at one of its most intense periods. Protecting North America from an oncoming invasion or missile barrage from the arctic, a series of remote radar stations dot various regions of the US and Canada. One particular US Air Force Radar Station lies in Northern Vermont, scanning endlessly for threats.
One evening in September of 1961 this radar station tracked a “UFO” for 18 minutes as documented in an official government sighting report. Curiously enough, that same evening a couple claims to have been abducted by extraterrestrials just 30 air miles away near Franconia Notch, NH. Known as the Betty and Barney Hill case, it has become one of the most notable alien abduction stories of all time.
Join filmmaker, adventurer and seeker of the unknown, Aleksandar Petakov as he bridges the connection between these two events and explores this chapter of New England Cold War UFO history.
