About this Event

The Lutheran Theological Seminary moved to the western side of Gettysburg in 1832, followed three decades later by national debates that tore apart the United States and divided the institution. As the Battle of Gettysburg opened on July 1, 1863, the Civil War came to the Seminary's door, leaving in its wake hundreds of wounded soldiers, thousands of dollars of property damage, and countless stories of heroism and horror. Explore the social, military, and medical impacts on this critical site through a brief history of its stories and legacies.

Codie Eash serves as Director of Education and Interpretation at Seminary Ridge Museum and Education Center in Gettysburg, where he has served several roles as a member of the staff since 2012. In 2014, he earned a bachelor’s degree in communication/journalism from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania, where he also completed a minor in History. In 2024, Codie began working on a master’s in American History at Gettysburg College through The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. In addition to Museum tours and programming, he lectures for American Battlefield Trust conferences, National Park Service sites, historical societies, Civil War roundtables, educational groups, and other organizations. Codie is a founding contributor to Pennsylvania in the Civil War, reviews books for Civil War Monitor and Emerging Civil War, writes articles for W.
