Giving Love. Honoring Lives.
The holidays are filled with traditions, memories, and moments shared with the people we love. But for those grieving the death of someone special, they can also be a painful reminder of who's missing.
On Giving Tuesday, December 1, The Waiting Place Foundation invites you to honor someone you've lost by giving a gift to someone else who is grieving.
The Lost Gift is a holiday gift drive built around a simple idea: while we can't replace the people someone has lost or the gifts they would have given, we can remind those left behind that they are seen, loved, and remembered.
All gifts collected will benefit The Sharing Place, a grief center supporting children and their families following the death of a loved one. We're collecting new, unwrapped gifts for children, teens, and adults within these families.
What to Expect
Along with the gift drive, we're bringing our community together for an evening of holiday activities, remembrance, and connection.
- Holiday Gift Drive: Bring a new, unwrapped gift in memory of someone you love.
- Santa & Mrs. Claus: Enjoy complimentary family photos.
- Remembrance Ornaments: Create something special to honor a loved one.
- Holiday Cards & Care Packages: Help share comfort and kindness with grieving families.
- Gift Bag Decorating: Add a personal touch to the gifts being donated.
- Refreshments: Enjoy time together with family, friends, and neighbors.
Come whenever works best for you! The Lost Gift is an open-house event, so you're welcome to stop by anytime during event hours. All activity stations will remain open throughout the event, allowing you and your family to participate at your own pace.
How to Participate
Admission is completely free, and all ages are welcome!
We encourage guests to bring a new, unwrapped gift for a child, teen, or adult. Gift guides are included in the event information to help you choose something meaningful.
You don't have to have experienced a loss to participate, and bringing a gift is encouraged but never required.
