Join us at The Anfield People's Cinema Festival for a screeing of The Long Day Closes (1992) Directed by Liverpool born, Terence Davies.
In post-war England, 11-year-old Bud finds escape from the poverty and greyness of his surroundings, and the violence of school, through magical trips to the cinema and the warmth of his extended family. Davies evokes memories of his youth in Liverpool with an intensely expressive soundscape, including the nostalgic voices from the songs, radio and movies of the 1950s that were so beloved to him.
The Anfield People's Cinema Festival which will take place over 24th-27th September in venues across the community. This festival is the result of over 20 local volunteers coming together to make something great happen in our local area. To check out the wider programme please visit the link here
Anfield People’s Cinema is a volunteer-run film club which hosts free-to-attend cinema events in venues across our area of Anfield and surrounding neighbourhoods. Our goal is to make bring people together to enjoy and celebrate the magic of films on a big screen.
As with all our screenings there will be a free meal for all attendees provided upon arrival as well as a range of refreshements throughout the screening.
This screening is free to attend but we do accept donations at the end of the event. Any money raised helps us to continue putting on these cinema events in Anfield and covers costs such film liscences, food and marketting.
