Set in the wonderful surroundings of St Mary's Church of Ireland, Maynooth, Irish writer Kevin Barry takes centre stage for the 2026 'In Conversation' keynote.
Kevin is one of Ireland’s most celebrated literary voices. The author of four acclaimed novels, most recently The Heart In Winter, and three short story collections, his awards include the IMPAC Dublin Literary Award, the Goldsmiths Prize, the Rooney Prize, the EU Literature Award and the Sunday Times Short Story Prize.
His work has been translated into more than thirty languages. He is also a screenwriter and a playwright, whose play The Cave, starring Aaron Monaghan, Judith Roddy and Tommy Tiernan, was a sensation at the Abbey Theatre in 2025. Kevin’s stories appear regularly in The New Yorker, Granta, and elsewhere. He co-edits and publishes Winter Papers, Ireland’s leading anthology for the arts, which appears each winter. A member of Aosdána, Kevin is originally from Limerick city and now lives in Co. Sligo.
