For Halloween 2026, Revelry Theatre Group builds on a new tradition of Halloween plays set by last year's production of Hamlet. This year, RTG presents a new adaptation of Washington Irving's classic folktale The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. After their previous three seasons being entirely centered around the works of Shakespeare, this ghost story represents the company's commitment to their literacy initiative, expanding their repertoire to give audiences access to a variety of classic literature.
The Legend of Sleepy Hollow tells the story of Ichabod Crane, an eccentric schoolmaster from Connecticut who lands on the village of Sleepy Hollow and fascinates the locals with his seemingly shared affinity for supernatural tales. His pursuit of the wealthy Katrina Van Tassel and his rivalry with her imposing suitor Brom Bones culminates in a terrifying midnight encounter with the Headless Horseman. Adapted and directed by Artistic Director duo Jesse Baxter and Cassidy Cagney, this production wraps audiences in the warm, cozy comfort of an autumn harvest celebration--filled with a live musical ensemble that brings the spirit of the village to life. Yet beneath the festivity lies a delightfully spooky undertone, as haunting ballads and ghostly tales give the perfect atmosphere for a night of Halloween entertainment.
