About this Event
Join us at the Haverstraw Brick Museum for a lecture by Justin Duerr on the Legacy of Mary Mowbray-Clarke and her impact as a Student, Teacher, Artist, Social Networker, Publisher, Bookshop Owner, and Landscape Architect.
Justin Duerr is a Philadelphia-based author, researcher, artist, and musician who has researched the life and social circles of Mary Mowbray-Clarke (1874 - 1962) since 2005, learning about her while compiling a monograph on her friend Herbert E. Crowley (1873 - 1937).
Justin's explorations of Mary's social orbit have resulted in the publication of several related pieces of writing, including a chapter focused on her connection to James Joyce's Ulysses, in the 2023 - 2024 Joyce Studies Annual, and an article chronicling the tragic history of Dorothea and Gladys Cromwell (1885 - 1919) published at JSTOR Daily in 2022
