Cathy tells the story of their five-year romance backward, beginning with its painful ending, while Jamie tells his story forward, starting with the excitement of new love. Their timelines meet only once, on their wedding day.
With unforgettable music, humor, and raw emotion, The Last Five Years explores the joys and complexities of loving someone—and the ways two people can experience the same relationship so differently.
Presented by the Johnson City Play Reading Collective in cooperation with Fischman Gallery, this readers theater production puts the spotlight on the music, storytelling, and performances, inviting audiences to experience this acclaimed musical in an intimate setting. This is a fully rehearsed play with minimal staging and technical production values.
