Led by Matthias Maute and featuring soprano Janelle Lucyk, the programme moves from Purcell and Handel to traditional 18th-century tunes. Virtuoso recorder playing, arias, dances, ground-bass variations and folk-inspired melodies reveal the lively exchange between high art and popular music in the British Isles.
