The Joe Cocker Story is entering a new chapter, and we’re delighted to welcome some fantastic new talent to the band.After the departure of our much-loved lead singer, we’re thrilled to introduce Phill Simmons as the new voice of Joe. Phill has been a Joe Cocker fan for as long as he can remember and jumped at the chance to help keep Joe’s music alive on stage.
Many music lovers around Sydney will already know Phill from his work with The Durham Project, the Jeff St John Band and the late Chris Turner. He’s a terrific singer, a great performer and, most importantly, someone who genuinely loves this music.
We’re also excited to see Angela McCloy step into the role of principal backing vocalist. Angela’s soulful voice brings something really special to the show, and she’ll also take centre stage for some of the wonderful duet songs that Joe performed throughout his career.
Joining the rhythm section is the talented Pedro Mello, whose energy and groove add another dimension to the band’s sound.
With the new lineup comes some new songs too. Alongside the Joe Cocker classics that audiences know and love, we’re adding a selection of favourites and hidden gems that deserve to be heard live.
