About this Event

The wondrous Jazz Cannibals playing early jazz - old songs full of joyful energy born from the emancipated black community. Their music is an uplifting, beautiful remedy from the stress from today's ills and a wonderful escape into a world of skillfully expressed artistic wonderment. Support comes from Nathan & Jessie, bringing their unique blend of jazzy folk and blues from the foothills of Southern California!
Headliners the Jazz Cannibals have been going in different formations since 2013. Jimbino started the band while living in New Orleans where he worked as a musician for 5 years playing with world class jazz musicians inspiring his original music which is a mixture of jazz, folk, reggae and a lot of joy. They tear down the false facade of normality with fun with passion - uplifting your hearts. Jimbino returned to Europe in 2016 and is joined by fantastically skilled musicians Tim Fairhall on bass, Frank Weatherly on tenor sax, Slava Lobodov on guitar and vocals with Jimbino on vocals guitar and clarinet.
In support, Nathan and Jessie are a fantastic band from the dry hills of southern California. Nathan Rivera on accordion, resonator guitar and vocals, and Jessie Andra Smith on resonator guitar and vocals not only sing their beautiful original music, but include stories of their travels and at battle against the fascism in contemporary USA. They score high on audience interaction making the night an unforgettable uplifting experience. Their love of sharing music has taken them from Mexico to Canada, France to New Orleans and the Pacific North West. The upbeat tunes they write reflect the cultural, emotional, and inspirational images of their life experience, are rooted in the spirit of jazz, improvisation, storytelling, language and humour. They are joined by home-slice, the brilliant Trevor Mulvey on contra-bass and two British friends: Jimbino Vegan on clarinet and Elsie Franklin on resonator guitar!
Jamboree food option: Our ‘Zer’ kitchen is open from 5pm serving delicious Middle Eastern fusion food for you to enjoy a pre-gig meal/snack if you wish!
