Inspired by the famous Oxford circle of friends that included C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien, The Inklings Breakfast Club is a monthly gathering around good books, good food, and good conversation. We’ll meet over breakfast on the first Saturday of each month, exploring readings from writers such as C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, Dorothy L. Sayers, George MacDonald, and others whose work invites us to think more deeply about faith, imagination, story, beauty, and what it means to be human.
This isn’t a class, and you don’t need to be a scholar, theologian, or card-carrying Tolkien nerd to come. You don’t even need to have read these authors before. Bring your curiosity and a willingness to join the conversation.
Breakfast and coffee will be provided. There is no charge, though a freewill offering will be received to help cover the cost of breakfast.
Because we want to make sure there is plenty of food, please RSVP by November 5 by emailing [email protected].
For our November meeting, we'll discuss, The Place of the Lion, by Charles Williams. The Place of the Lion is a supernatural fiction novel, first published in 1931. The story unfolds in a small English town where Platonic archetypes begin to manifest causing chaos and revealing the spiritual strengths and flaws of the characters, particularly focusing on Mr. Berringer and his mystical group. This novel explores themes of good vs. evil, the nature of reality, and the importance of community.

Don’t worry if you don’t finish the reading, though it helps the discussion if you do. Come anyway. This is a conversation, not a class.
Readers, writers, questioners, lovers of stories, and people with an inkling that there may be more to discover are all welcome.
Good books. Good conversation. A larger imagination.
