About this Event

Florence, Capital of Beauty: the Neoplatonic Legacy of the Magnifico Returns

On 7 November 2026, as every year, Florence hosts La Bellezza Ideale, a cultural day dedicated to the revival of the Neoplatonic Academy and to the humanistic vision that made the city one of Europe’s most important intellectual laboratories. The event will take place in the Sala del Pegaso of the Tuscany Region, marking the historical commemoration that Lorenzo il Magnifico dedicated each year to the memory of Plato.

The event brings together scholars, researchers and institutions to explore the role of Beauty as a form of knowledge, a central theme of Renaissance culture. As stated in the project: “Beauty was not regarded merely as an aesthetic quality, but as a profound dimension of existence through which human beings could approach knowledge, harmony, and the understanding of the universe.”

The conference will begin at 9:00 a.m. and will feature contributions dedicated to new Leonardian research, the presentation of the facsimile of the Codex Madrid, the history of the Medici Villas, and the contemporary dialogue promoted by the UNESCO Club of Florence.

Attendance is free but places are limited. Registration is required at [email protected] or via WhatsApp at 3888274551.
