About this Event
Honey Gold, created by Baton Rouge artists Sariah Sizemore and Taylor Matherne, debuts their immersive audiovisual meditative experience with live music and dreamlike visuals at the historic Marigny Opera House in New Orleans.
Designed for relaxation and decompression, Honey Gold layers live instrumentation and song, spoken guidance, sound design, and dreamlike visual imagery into an open-ended experience, somewhere between a concert, an art installation, and a meditative journey. There's no single way to experience it, just an invitation to let your mind wander and find your own meaning in the work.
Honey Gold grew from Sizemore and Matherne's shared experience as artists born and raised in Louisiana, where music and art became ways of processing the complexity and emotional intensity of growing up in the South. Their work brings together music, visual art, technology, and contemplative experience.
For this performance, Sizemore and Matherne are joined by New Orleans artist Monica Rose Kelly, resident projectionist at the Marigny Opera House. Kelly will project Honey Gold's video collages across the opera house's walls, columns, and architecture through video mapping, adding her own live light painting to the performance in real time.
Honey Gold debuted at the Virginia and John Noland Black Box Theater at the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge in July 2025, and has since expanded to venues including the City Club of Baton Rouge, Louisiana's Old State Capitol, and Audium in San Francisco.
