About this Event
Now in it's 65th Year!
Funds raised by The Bishop’s Company support the Bishop of Toronto’s ministries, provides emergency care for clergy in need, and gives bursaries for religious education.
We are thrilled to announce our guest speaker is The Most Rev. Anne Germond. As the Archbishop of Algoma and Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario, Archbishop Germond has served as Bishop of the Diocese of Algoma since 2016. She was elected Metropolitan of the Ecclesiastical Province of Ontario in October 2018 and became the first woman to hold that office. From 2018 until May 28, 2025, she also served as Archbishop of the Diocese of Moosonee during a period of transition. From September 15, 2024, to June 2025, she served as Acting Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada.
Born and raised in South Africa, Archbishop Germond’s early life and formation were shaped by the social and ecclesial realities of that context. Her experience of faith in a society marked by division and transformation has deeply informed her lifelong commitment to reconciliation, justice, and pastoral leadership.
Before her election as bishop, she served in parish ministry within the Diocese of Algoma and held senior diocesan leadership responsibilities, including regional and administrative oversight. Her ministry has been shaped by extensive service across northern Ontario and in communities marked by geographic isolation and diverse cultural contexts.
In May 2024, Trinity College, University of Toronto conferred upon her the degree of Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) in recognition of her leadership and service to the Church.
She lives in Sault Ste. Marie with her husband, Colin.
