About this Event

Join us for session 5 of "The Holocaust Through the Documentary Lens." This month we will featureThree Minutes: A Lengthening Directed by Bianca Stigter.

This documentary presents a home movie shot by David Kurtz in 1938 in a Jewish town in Poland. The three minutes of footage, mostly in colour, are the only moving images left of the Jewish inhabitants of Nasielsk before the Holocaust. The existing three minutes are examined again and again to unravel the stories hidden in the celluloid. (69 minutes)

This film is part of a DOROT series of documentaries that explore and reflect various aspects of the Holocaust. Each month, we watch and discuss a documentary that offers a unique perspective on the Holocaust and its impact. While the films will not concentrate on explicit horrors, they will tell stories of unique experiences that show the complexity of what occurred. After the screenings, there will be time for reflection and discussion. There is no “one” Holocaust story but millions of unique experiences.

This series is organized by award-winning filmmaker Aviva Slesin.
