Let’s dive into how the financial crisis quietly hit Black women’s mental health and what we can do about it.
About this Event

Across the UK, the rising cost of living is placing increasing pressure on households—but for many Black women, the impact goes deeper than finances. It shows up as stress, burnout, anxiety, and the silent weight of holding everything together.

This Community Assembly creates a dedicated space for Black women to come together, be heard, and explore the often-overlooked mental health impact of the financial crisis.

This is more than a conversation—it’s a space for understanding, connection, and practical solutions.

What to expect

Join us for an evening at the Karibu Centre where we will:

  • Open up honest conversations about financial pressure and mental wellbeing
  • Hear from experienced speakers who understand both the professional and lived realities
  • Take part in interactive workshops focused on coping strategies, resilience, and new opportunities
  • Explore pathways to income generation, including business start-up ideas and support
  • Connect with other Black women in a supportive, empowering environment

We will close the evening with a Caribbean meal, creating space to relax, connect, and build community.

  • Navigating stress, burnout, or uncertainty
  • Interested in practical tools for wellbeing and financial resilience
  • Open to connection, learning, and new opportunities

Why attend?

Because this issue is real—and often unspoken.
Because you don’t have to carry it alone.
Because solutions exist—and they start in spaces like this.
And finally ..

We understand that many women are balancing work, finances, wellbeing, and motherhood, which is why limited childcare spaces will be available for children aged 5 and over during the event.

Children will be supervised in a separate space by a DBS-registered magician and entertainer, allowing attendees to fully engage with the evening’s discussions, workshops, and activities with greater peace of mind.

Childcare spaces are limited and will be offered on a first come, first served basis. If this is the case please email [email protected] for details.

Spaces are limited to 60 attendees. Secure your place early.
