In the post-internet age, our society has become more connected than it has at any point in human history. We have unlimited access to each other at the tap of a button. Social media lets us keep up with people thousands of miles away. And yet, as a people, we have never drifted further apart. Real, in-person connection has increasingly become foreign, and social skills deteriorate. We have become a people who are constantly consuming, and not processing. This model has seeped into the music world as well, where streaming, algorithms, phones, and even headphones have fostered an isolated listening experience. This project aims to remove those headphones, and bring us back together to soak in our feelings and address our communal situation.The Pond Talks events are designed around the belief that experiencing art together can create forms of connection that experiencing it alone cannot. The intention is for people to walk out of these events inspired, finding expression through creativity, or motivated to continue dialogue within their community surrounding the themes of the album. To remove the shades of their own bias, and engage with others in the same way they engaged with my album: with dimension, varying perspectives, appreciation for difference and a curiosity for common ground.
We will listening to the new album by Yxsterday in full, in an intimate and close environment with an in-depth discourse to follow. Patrons will have the first viewing and opportunity to purchase limited edition merchandise.
All ticket purchases include an EVENT specific merch piece, and THREE entries into a raffle for an original painting by Ashley Alexis at the THP Release Installation event.
