The Healing Effect of Orgasmic Meditation for Veterans with PTSD Join three panelists and moderator Dr. Dan Kriegman for a conversation about veterans, PTSD, and Orgasmic Meditation (OM).
About this Event

Two combat veterans sit down together: John "Thorfin" Caldwell, former Canadian Special Forces with thirty-eight years across British and Canadian militaries; and Bob Sabado, a combat veteran whose convoy was hit by a roadside bomb in Iraq. Bob is joined by Michelle Sabado, his wife of more than twenty years, who has personally benefited from Orgasmic Meditation (OM) in their marriage. The conversation is moderated by Dr. Dan Kriegman, the clinical psychologist who led the first peer-reviewed clinical trial of OM as a meditation practice for individuals with PTSD.

Dr. Dan Kriegman is a clinical psychologist whose work integrates evolutionary biology with human experience, examining how biological imperatives shape behavior and meaning. He has held key clinical roles, including serving as Chief Psychologist at the Massachusetts Treatment Center for Sexually Dangerous Offenders and Clinical Director for a treatment program.

The discussion will look at the challenges of feeling numb, being constantly on guard, and reconnecting with loved ones after military service—and why some veterans have turned to OM.

We’ll explore:

  • What Orgasmic Meditation is and what the practice involves.
  • Veterans’ accounts of changes in their relationships and everyday lives.
  • What early research suggests about OM and PTSD, and what remains to be understood.

OM is a structured, 15-minute partnered meditation involving consensual genital touch and focused attention. No prior knowledge of the practice is needed to follow the conversation.

A small study published in 2025 reported improvements in PTSD symptoms among participants. These early findings warrant further research; they do not establish OM as a proven treatment for PTSD.

Veterans, partners, family members, and anyone curious about the topic are welcome.
