Dear friends,I am delighted to invite you to the next concert of The Green Room Concerts on Saturday, October 31 at 4:00 pm.
This concert marks the beginning of a very special musical journey for me: a return to the complete cycle of Beethoven’s 32 piano sonatas.
Yuliya Gorenman, piano
THE GORENMAN BEETHOVEN 32
A Return to the Complete Piano Sonatas
Nearly twenty years after first performing Beethoven’s complete 32 piano sonatas, I return to them with a life fully lived and experienced—with all its joys and sorrows—and a never-ending fascination with this extraordinary music.
This is not Beethoven preserved behind glass, nor an exercise in looking backward. This music is alive—living, breathing, and recreated in the moment of performance.
The score may be two hundred years old. The performance is happening now.
And so we begin at the beginning.
LUDWIG VAN BEETHOVEN
Piano Sonata No. 1 in F minor, Op. 2, No. 1
Piano Sonata No. 2 in A major, Op. 2, No. 2
Piano Sonata No. 3 in C major, Op. 2, No. 3
The Green Room offers a concert experience unlike the traditional concert hall: music heard at close range in an intimate setting, surrounded by original art and an extraordinary collection of plants, with wonderful acoustics and an opportunity to meet and talk with the artist.
Following the performance, guests are invited to stay for an informal Q&A and reception.
