About this Event
This three-day seminar on Freudian technique is based on the work of Italian psychoanalyst Giacomo Contri, a Lacan's analysant and the first Italian member of the Ecole Freudienne de Paris. The seminar will be led by three members of the Pulsion faculty, all of whom are also members of the Società Amici del Pensiero – Sigmund Freud, the Society founded by Contri in Milan, Italy.
The first day will present Transference as a product — specifically, as the unique product of the partnership between analyst and analysand. Transference is a welcome development when it occurs, since without it there can be no cure.
The second day will address the redefinition of Abstinenz as the exercise of one's "negative talent," a fundamental concept in Contri's doctrine. Negative talent is not the renunciation of receiving satisfaction through the other, but rather the renunciation of the prejudicial objection to receiving satisfaction through the other.
Finally, the third day will focus on Partnership. When we establish a partnership, we exercise our own principle of sovereignty. Neurosis is the repression of the subject's principle of sovereignty, as distinct from its outright denial (psychosis) or its disavowal (perversion).
This seminar may confer 6 CEUs.
