About this Event
Lead by artist Martha Orbach, with film by Kate McDonough.
How do we make a home amidst the climate crisis?
We are going to experiment together. Young people ages 5 -11 will collaborate to make a free-standing nest structure which explores ideas of home, made from locally scavenged materials, domestic debris, and biomaterials. Young people will have the chance to and learn making skills, experiment, and each child will plant a seed in pot and be given a lavender plant to take home. Kate MacDonough will work with the young people to make a film of the workshop and discuss their ideas about the environment. Young people must be accompanied by an adult.
Martha Orbach is a visual artist. She makes work about our relationship with our environment, migration, and how we make home in the aftermath.
The workshop will be filmed by Kate MacDonough’s and screened during the exhibition. Kate McDonough is an international cinematographer, who has been working with directors and artist film makers from across the world. Her work has been shown in biennales, cinema's, galleries and museums.
