About this Event
🧘 With the New Year coming up so soon, are you looking to start it off on a fresh note!? Perhaps it's time to look into new wellness practices for ourselves!
Have you ever been curious about the world of meditation? The do-s and don't-s perhaps? Get ready to become educated in the complex and deep world of meditation, including the strange and beautiful path it has taken one man on! 🧘
Meditation has been hanging around for roughly 5000 years because, in one way or another, it's been helping people for roughly 5000 years. However, given the speed and noise of modern life -- and the ways in which internal and external peace seem increasingly hard to come by -- it can be hard to figure out how useful and realistic the practice *actually* is.
That, it turns out, may be the point. 🪷
Join Billy Rosenbeck of the Mellow Elephant to learn how he went from practice to prisons to package stores, why meditation works amid life's messiness, and the ways we can harness some sanity in the middle of a bunch of craziness.
This might be for you if you...
- Are curious about how meditation could expand your own life
- Are intrigued by the unique and fascinating (sometimes weird) paths that spiritual practice has taken others (and could take you)
- Enjoy lecture-based and conversation-focused events of any kind — think Ted Talks in bars, Lectures on Tap, or micro learning meets dinner party
- Want to switch up your usual weeknight. Why not make it interesting? 🤓

🐘 Billy Rosenbeck is a meditation teacher, mental skills coach, and the creator of the Mellow Elephant. His work focuses on bringing the practice to people who might not think meditation is for them and places that might not expect to find it -- including prisons, police stations, schools, firehouses, offices, athletics, and more. In 2026, Billy released the documentary "MELLOW: A Meditation Road Trip," which follows a ten-hour journey to lead ten practices in ten such locations. His personal essay "The Circuitous Path of an Unexpected Meditation Teacher" was recently published by Mindful.
