About this Event
The Free Black Women's Library is a literary hub, reading room, Black Feminist archive, and community care space that features a free store, period pantry, backyard garden, reading club, weekly book swap, and a wide array of free public programs, as well as a collection of over 5000 books written by Black women and Black nonbinary authors.
This social art project was created by artist and cultural worker OlaRonke Akinmowo in 2015, and is funded by merchandise sales and direct donations.

Authors Bios :
Dr. Sarah L. Webb is writer, healer, teacher, and internationally recognized expert on colorism. Dr. Sarah serves through channeled coaching and dream journeys to guide students in the heart-led mission to heal and transform their world form the inside out.
For more than two decades, Dr. Sarah has led transformative learning experiences for diverse groups around the globe. As the founder of Colorism Healing, Dr. Sarah is a global thought leader. Her myriad efforts to address colorism have included designing college courses, hosting an international writing contest, publishing books and peer-reviewed academic journal articles, teaching workshops, and mentoring students across the world from Sacramento to Sydney.
Dr. Sarah’s work has reached audiences on MTV, Forbes, Fox, TED, NPR, Ebony, and Essence. Her new book Colorism: The Politics of Skin Tone and How We Get Free is available wherever books are sold.
Indigo Goodson-Fields is a writer, poet, facilitator and birder based in Brooklyn. Her forthcoming book, entitled Bird Song: An Anthology of Black Birders, explores community building, racial and environmental justice and the importance of birding in the lives of six Black birders. Bird Song will be published by OR Books in winter 2026.
