Does your flag sing back?
An original 20 minute theatrical experience that explores identity, allegiance, and the symbolism behind the flag Laughter sings to through Spoken Word. Written and performed by Laugh Sanchez.
The Flag I Sing To picks apart the life of a youngish Puerto Rican man who juggles with defining his allegiance. If the government decides the erasure of his citizenship and there is no homeland left, what flag does he sing to? Does that then become a song you may start resonating with soon? There are no idle bodies in democracy stage, just those who haven't decided where they land. As this performance centers around audience engagement, you will be called to engage with this stage!

Laugh Sanchez
Be it his greatest vices or virtues he’s loud, proud, and goofy.
Roberto to his Father, Josue to his Mother, and Laugh, to all of you. Mr. Sanchez is a practitioner of creative writing and performing arts. A nerd guided by his curiosity to find ways to enhance the artistic ecosystem. He finds himself with a home constantly visited by other artists able to find productivity in imagining more together.
For Laugh, founding The Rooftop Poets LLC came with a commitment to making time and creating space for us to be great. On stage, in the classroom, and in our lives. Which for him starts with creativity. Meet him as a poet and leave having a colleague.

You can also visit his website to see programs he’s hosting such as “Hands of Hartford” supported by The Teaching Artist Mentorship Grant with The Teaching Artist Hub, an initiative between CT Office of the Arts and Oddfellows Playhouse.

Currently Laugh is developing Breaking Even, a production program designed to support emerging artists in poetry, music, theater, and public speaking who seek guidance presenting original work.
