About this Event
This three-part intensive covers the basics of human anatomy using ceramics. Topics covered will include proportions and figurative sculpture, as well as how to construct larger format ceramics. We will use photo references and learn about how to look at a figure as a sculpture.
All clay and glaze used during class is included in the class fee. Students will have the opportunity to continue working on their projects over the weekend before or after each day's class, and may need to do this to finish their piece by the end of the course.
This class is taught by Alchemy Co-Founder and figurative sculptor Maria Michaelson. This is the first time Maria has offered a figure sculpting class in several years! It is a special opportunity to learn more about her unique process and explore the world of figurative work.
Schedule: Friday 7/24, Saturday 7/25, and Sunday 7/26, 2-6pm.
This class is held in the ceramics studio in the main art building on the origiginal AAC campus at 1255 Wold Rd. Directions and parking information will be included in your confirmation email.

Registration: Please register early if you are able, as it helps us to assure that classes meet their minimums in order to run! If you register more than three weeks before this class begins, a 20% early bird discount will automatically be applied to your ticket at checkout.
A Note on Ticket Pricing: We are offering sliding scale tickets in order to keep our classes accessible to as many community members as possible. There are three price tiers. Sustaining tickets help us continue to invest in programming. Full price tickets cover the costs associated with running classes. Accessibility tickets are priced below what it costs for us to run a class. If the cost of a full price ticket is a hardship, we encourage you to purchase a sliding scale ticket. If you can pay the full price or sustaining price, please choose that option so we can keep providing arts programming to the community.
Tuition Assistance: In addition to sliding scale tickets, we also offer tuition assistance for all Alchemy classes. Apply for tuition assistance here.
